FCAT Standard 47
SC.7.P.10.3 Recognize that light waves, sound waves, and other waves move at different speeds in different materials/mediums. Also relate this to refraction and the term mirage. This standard is about waves and there speeds, also refraction of waves and mirage

Notes:
-waves are disturbances that move along a medium from one end to another -sound waves travel faster in dense mediums when light travels slower -the speed of a wave depends on the medium its traveling through -mirage is bent light waves -mirage is considered a phenomenon -types of mirage: 1. inferior mirage 2. superior mirage Ex: When swinging at a baseball, you see the ball hit and leave the bat before you hear the collision sound because light travels faster than sound. Ex: If one watches an ocean wave moving along the medium (the ocean water), one can observe that the crest of the wave is moving from one location to another over a given interval of time.
