ENERGY
FCAT Standard 34
SC.7.P.11.2
Investigate and describe the transformation of
energy from one form to another. Also, relate
this to the law of conservation of energy.
The goal is to understand the transformation of energy and the conservation of energy.
SC.7.P.11.2
Investigate and describe the transformation of
energy from one form to another. Also, relate
this to the law of conservation of energy.
The goal is to understand the transformation of energy and the conservation of energy.
EXAMPLES:
single transformation: "your body transforms the chemical energy in food to the mechanical energy to move your muscles" textbook
multiple transformations: a car uses thermal energy and electrical energy to move
conservation: "energy makes a toy airplane fly, when it stops flying; the energy isn't destroyed" text book

conservation: "energy makes a toy airplane fly, when it stops flying; the energy isn't destroyed" text book
Notes:
- energy is the ability to do work or something
- energy isnt created or destroyed
- it can changes forms
- thermal energy the total kinetic and potential energy of the particles in an object (text book)
- electrical energy is the energy of electric charges (textbook)
- electromagnetic energy travels through space in waves (textbook)
- chemical energy is the potential energy stored in chemical energy (textbook)
- some transformations involve one transformation, some may involve many
- all forms of energy can be changed into other forms
- one form of energy can be transformed into another form from work
- sometimes, a series of transformations needed to do work
- energy is conserved during a transformation
